Lawsuit Abuse Enters Gubernatorial Debate

Former Congressman and State Legislator Tom Campbell (R) is the first 2010 candidate for governor who has staked out lawsuit reform as a key component for rebuilding California’s faltering economy. According to a recently released web video, Campbell introduces “his specific plan to bring jobs back to California: reducing lawsuit abuse." Campbell says in the video, "We have to say that if I bring a lawsuit and I don't have a basis for bringing it - if I lose - I should have to pay at least some part of the costs you have to incur for defending that lawsuit."

This past year, our lawsuit tax was estimated to be $835 for every man, woman and child in America. That's $3,340 for a family of four! We can all agree that this money could be better spent, particularly in this economy.
